Eric Stone Biography
Eric Stone is an American Weather Forecaster working at WFLA News, serving as a Meteorologist since he joined the station in October 2021. Formerly, Stone worked at WINK-TV in Fort Myers, as a Meteorologist.
Eric Stone Career/Education
Stone received two Bachelor’s degrees from Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. He studied meteorology and applied mathematics there. After that, he went to the University of Utah in Salt Lake City to get his Master’s degree in Meteorology.
Eric is presently playing his role at WFLA News as a meteorologist, since he became part of the network in October 2019. He was the weekend weather anchor for Fox 4 in Fort Myers and WINK-TV in Fort Myers before coming to work at WFLA.
Stone began working in television in 2001 as a weather producer/forecaster at Salt Lake City’s KSTU Fox 13. At KSTU, he quickly advanced to the position of on-air meteorologist before relocating to beautiful southwest Florida. Throughout his twelve years in Salt Lake City, Eric also worked with the FAA, taking meteorological observations at the Salt Lake City International Airport.
While he was employed at KSTU in Salt Lake City in May of 2009, Eric was awarded the AMS stamp of approval. He received the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal of approval in April 2014.
He has always been fascinated by extreme weather, both in the summer and the winter, and he’s even been known to chase a few storms. Moving from Salt Lake City to Fort Myers, Stone visited Joplin, Missouri, and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to assess tornado damage. He has developed a fascination for tropical weather forecasting since moving to Florida.

Stone enjoys bowling in his free time, and he has even participated in leagues and competitions. Additionally, he started playing competitive pinball at the Pinball Asylum, a local Fort Myers pinball club. Before Eric competed in Denmark for the World title and won the North American title in 2017.
Stone has been all over the country; in January 2020, he won the Open Pinball World Championship in Banning, California, and placed sixth in the World Championship in Toronto, Canada. Eric became the world’s top pinball player in June of 2021. In addition, he enjoys riding his bike and visiting the beach to enjoy the lovely Florida weather.
