Martinez studied at Florida State University from the year 1995 to 1999 where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Communications. He is currently playing his role as a news anchor for WFLA station since he became part of the network in June 2021. Being back home in Tampa Bay makes him very happy!
Martinez worked as a CBS News Correspondent in the Los Angeles bureau of the network for six years before joining WFLA. He covered important issues for both local CBS stations and national broadcasts while traveling the nation during that period. Along with covering domestic news, he also covered world events, such as Pope Francis’ and former President Barack Obama’s historic travels to Cuba twice, and the deadly 2017 earthquake in Mexico City.
Chris worked for WBBM-TV in Chicago for three years as a reporter and stand-in anchor prior to joining the network. He previously worked as a reporter and anchor for WFTS-TV for more than nine years here in Tampa. Additionally, he supervised editorial coverage for WCTV in Tallahassee while working as a reporter for WCTV in Orlando and Central Florida News 13.
