Jamie Kagol is an American Weather Forecaster working at KARE 11 News, an affiliate of NBC, serving as a Weekend Meteorologist since he joined the station in December 2022. Formerly, Kagol worked at KPNX in Phoenix, Arizona as a Meteorologist.
Jamie Kagol Career/Education
Kagol attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter to study geography, and then he proceeded to Saint Louis University in Missouri to obtain his master’s degree in meteorology. His study focused on Doppler radar, severe storms, and tornadoes. For broadcast meteorology, he has been recognized by the AMS Seal of Approval.
He is presently playing his role as a weekend meteorologist since he secured a position at the network in December 2022. He spent the last twenty years around the country doing forecasts prior to joining the KARE 11. Interestingly, it all began here in the Golden Valley during his internship with Ken Barlow.
In Mankato, Minnesota, KEYC was Kagol’s first station. His next appointment was to forecast snowstorms in the Northern Rockies at KIFI in Idaho Falls, ID. Afterward, he relocated across the nation and began predicting the tropical weather of Fort Myers, Florida at WFTX. It was time to head north to Mid-Michigan to work at WEYI/WSMH in Flint after having enough sun and beach.
Kagol was still working on the warm weather; his next destination was the Valley of the Sun at KPNX in Phoenix, Arizona, where he covered high-country snowstorms, haboobs, monsoon storms, and temperatures in the triple digits.
